Henry James ’s “International Theme ” shows his European and American cultural concepts from conflict to integration. “Daisy Miller” is regarded as one of the most important works in the “International Theme” novel that shows the cultural conflicts between Europe and the United States. However, the American identity of Europeanized Americans in the novel has been neglected. James shifted his attention from the cultural conflict between Americans and Europeans in the previous works to the conflict of ideas among American people. He reflected on the two attitudes that American society treated European culture at that time, and put forward cultural fusion in later works Possible. Therefore, “Daisy Miller” plays an important role in the formation of the European and American cultural fusion view.
