画风与地域、人群应该有些必然的联系,如果把鲁迅美术学院放到一个大环境中去考察的话,就会发现地域的影响是一个很重要的方面,而大的文化背景又是另外一个重要方面。从地域和传统文化背景上看,鲁迅美术学院均与中央美术学院、中国美术学院等兄弟美术院校有着十分明显的不同之处。这也是形成鲁迅美术学院教学和创作特征的主要原因。鲁迅美术学院始终在现实主义中寻找自己的语言,又加上对特殊的地域文化的独到的理解,遂形成颇具特色的“北方气派”,我们或者干脆称它为“鲁美气派”。至于这种“气派”在理论上究竟是否可以称作什么“体系”之类,在此姑且留待他人评定。现仅就鲁迅美术学院的教学与创作的一些主要特点略作介绍和分析。 与其他美术院校相比较,鲁美基础教学与创作之间的关系似乎更加密切。从某种意义上说,鲁美的基础教学受创作的影响比较大。这与当时“以创作带教学”这一大的社会氛围不无关系。因而在鲁美教学系统开始形成阶段,就已显露出“以我为主”研究和表现对象的主动参与性,这与仅仅是对对象进行复原性的描绘迥然有别。经过这种训练的学生,虽然同处于写实主义规范语汇的范围
