由于复合模具冲出的零件之精密度较其它模具(简单模具及连续模具)的要高,所以在许多场合下不得不采用复合模。但是,从复合模一冲出的零件不易从模孔中脱落下来,因此不能进行连续冲压,生产效率的提高或自动化在这里碰到了困难。解决了自动化问题也就可以最合理地利用材料(那时将可以在整张板料上排样),因此,自动化是个很吸引人的问题。在工厂有利用压缩空气吹掉落在冲模上的零件来解决自动化的办法,但是由于油脂和毛刺以及零件的重量等等方面的影响,使得它的限制性和不可靠性
