现代高度发达的科技,还未能在茫茫宇宙中找到一个像地球那样有着生命活动迹象的星球,更不用说像地球那样有着极其丰富多样的生物资源了。农友们在农田山地上种植各种作物、果木,施肥淋水、除草防虫……丰收果实的获取不但是靠人的辛劳,还有一大群我们肉眼看不见的有益微生物,在土壤中悄悄地帮助我们改善作物根系的生长环境,协助根系吸收水分养分,并对某些有害微生物起抑制作用。根瘤菌、固氮菌是人们较为熟识的,它们是细菌和植物的共生菌,把空气中的分子态氮“固定”为植物可吸收利用的化合态氮。另有一种叫菌根菌的微生物,大家就比较生疏。菌根菌是一大类真菌(各种食用菌,发面包的酵母等也是真菌),真菌和植物的共生关系更为普遍。
