Epidemiological survey showed that the infection rates of malaria and hepatitis C virus were 4.14% and 84.06%, respectively, and the double infection rate was 3.72%. The prevalence of HCV infection in malaria patients was 89.74%. The levels of malaria and HCV infection in single-cut blood donors were significantly higher than those in nonspecific blood donors. Case-control studies have shown that blood sampling, centrifugal plasmapheresis and cross-contamination of blood cells during blood transfusion are the major causes of malaria and HCV infection.
