刺槐生长迅速,耐干旱瘠薄,易于繁殖,是群众喜爱的优良树种。解放以来,在洛阳地区浅山丘陵和高原沟壑地带,营造了大面积的刺槐纯林,对于绿化荒山,保持水土,解决用材、烧柴、饲料、肥料等方面,起到很大作用。但是,刺槐的寿命短,不能培育大型用材。在洛阳地区立地条件较好的地方,10年左右成檩材,条件差的长成椽材;10年后生长量显著下降,条件极恶劣的往往形成“小老树”。近几年在洛宁等地,大面积的刺槐纯林
