On the early morning of May 16, the day after Chen Jianjun’s sacrifice, I was ordered to rush to Zhoushan. I did not know this comrade in my fellow countryman. If there was a little bit of deification, six months ago, the Political Department of the Corps recommended 82 of the thousands of soldiers to compose the magazine “Soldier’s Car: Records of the Fire Fighters.” A few of us took the matter and should admit that the origin of this Zhoushan warrior made me light up. The next eight days and nights, I was touched. I struggled to evade the tears of myself and others, in the face of an endless stream of mourners and in the face of the laid-off workers who were kneeling down in front of the soldiers, hoping to see the real life of a martyr. Then I sat in front of my computer and hit the keyboard while I could not stop the tears flowing. In the meantime, some well-intentioned people remind me that “the high elevation when pulled.” I kindly led, but did not dare to do so. A year ago, my colleague Xia Guofeng from Zhoushan reported Chen Jianjun’s title as “the true character of a soldier.” How good is it to be an honest person?
