1997年是我国旅游业发展史上极不寻常的一年。历经百年沧桑的“东方之珠”——香港回到了祖国母亲的怀抱;标志着把建设有中国特色社会主义事业向新世纪全面推进的党的十五大将要召开。为了迎接这两件举世瞩目的世纪盛事,展示蒸蒸日上的中国旅游业形象,江泽民同志在今年的新年贺词中宣布:“我们将于1997年举办‘中国旅游年’。欢迎更多的朋友来亲眼看看中国,了解中国。”今年4月,太平洋亚洲旅游协会(PATA)的交易会、年会暨地区分会首次在中国召开,李鹏总理出席年会开幕式并讲话。这充分体现了党和政府对实现旅游业更大发展的信心和决心,也标志着中国旅游业在世界旅游业中的地位日益突出。同时,也昭示着中国旅游业的发展已进入了一个崭新的历史时期,并迎来了又一次极好的发展机遇。面对这一崭新历史时期的发展机遇,在各级党委、政府的重视和领导下,我省旅游业紧紧围绕“’
1997 is an extraordinary year in the history of China’s tourism industry.
