2005年6月10日上午11时40分许,广东省汕头市潮南区峡山街道国务院和公安部对此起火灾十分关注。周永康部长10日深夜亲字打出了重要指示。刘金国副部长就尽快查明火灾原因,举一反三,加强当消男局长于10日下午赶到现场,指导协调火灾事故调查及善后处理。国务华南宾馆发生火灾,造成31人死亡、3人重伤。电话询问火灾情况,对全力以赴查清火因、维护好社会稳定作防安全工作提出了明确要求。正在广东进行调研工作的郭铁院联合调查组也于11日赶赴广东,开展火灾事故调查。
