José Donoso, famous contemporary writer in Chile, is one of the twentieth century prominent Latin American novelists. In 1981, his novel “Garden Beside” was published, arousing strong repercussions in South American and even world literary circles. Julio, the hero of the work, is a Latin American writer who was forced into exile in Europe for political persecution. The author uses symbolism to describe the survival of Julio after being expelled from Garden. The symbolism novel has a very profound meaning.
