Industry 4.0 represents the Fourth Industrial Revolution. What is Industry 4.0 in your opinion? What is German standardization strategy in this process?rnMr. Michael Teigeler:The fourth industrial revolution will affect the whole eco-system of the manufacturing industry. The previous industrial revolutions changed the way how products have been produced in a vertical dimension, with other aspects remained more or less unchanged. In the fourth industrial revolution, we will see an extended value chain connecting smart factories, smart products and smart services. These three dimensions form the three axis of the Reference Architecture Model “Industrie 4.0” (RAMI 4.0), a model which has been introduced by German experts and will guide the standardization work worldwide.
