教学、训练、科研三结合办学思想，是高等教育规律在体育院校办学中的具体反映。回溯体育院校办学过程，教学、训练、科研三结合大致经历了院校创办时期的初步结合、特殊条件下的逐渐分离、动乱时期的严重扭曲、重新结合后初见成效四个阶段的发展过程。世纪之交的体育院校应进一步突出三结合的办学思想，发挥优势，办出特色，全面适应体育事业和社会发展的需要。
The combination of teaching, training and scientific research is the concrete reflection of the laws of higher education in the running of PE colleges and universities.
