Objective To investigate the effects of persistent or chronic diarrhea on blood zinc, magnesium, calcium, copper, iron and lead in children with persistent or chronic diarrhea by detecting the levels of zinc, magnesium, calcium, copper, iron and lead in whole blood of children with persistent or chronic diarrhea . Methods Sixty children with persistent or chronic diarrhea attending a pediatric hospital were selected as the observation group and 60 healthy children with the same period of hospital physical examination as the control group. The levels of zinc, magnesium, calcium, copper, iron and lead Determination. Results The levels of zinc, magnesium, calcium and iron in children with persistent or chronic diarrhea were significantly lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in blood copper and lead levels between the two groups P> 0.05). Conclusion The levels of Zinc, Magnesium, Calcium and Iron in children with persistent or chronic diarrhea are significantly decreased, suggesting that the clinical need to timely detect supplemental zinc, magnesium, calcium and iron in order to shorten the course of disease and facilitate rehabilitation.
