Acetaminophen and caffeine are used together in commercial preparations. USP XXII edition HPLC determination of these drugs and acetylsalicylic acid. Because of their overlapping UV absorption peaks, they can not be measured by direct UV absorption. This article describes the determination of acetaminophen and caffeine in tablets using the first-order differential UV method. The results of its determination with the statutory HPLC method for comparison. This method includes extracting the drug from the tablets using water, filtering and diluting. The acetaminophen and caffeine are measured at zero crossings of 216.2 and 205.4 nm, respectively. The corresponding concentration of drug in the range of 0.3-6.0 μg / ml was plotted from the dA / dλ (expressed as D) values. meter
