ITS是核糖体DNA上的内转录间隔区,其序列分析已成为在分子水平上探讨科、亚科、族内关系十分有效的手段,在种内,ITS序列对于揭示异域分布或间断分布居群间的关系具有很大潜力,该片段特别适合于属、种级的系统发育和分类研究。以ITS序列为DNA条形码鉴别的标准片段,已经在植物类中药材的DNA分子鉴别中广泛应用而且必将前景广阔。
