褪黑素(MT)是松果腺分泌的神经内分泌激素,参与光照周期信号传导过程,在人类其血浆水平随昼夜节律波动,夜间升高,白天降低。其生理作用包括调节生物节律,季节性生殖发育,神经内分泌和免疫系统功能等。MT可作为一种自由基清除剂,发挥一系列抗氧化损伤的保护作用,还能对糖皮质激素的调节和免疫系统产生影响,防止细胞凋亡。外源性MT补充可能延迟衰老过程和防治老年相关性疾病。
Melatonin (MT), a neuroendocrine hormone secreted by the pineal gland, is involved in the photoperiod signaling process. Its plasma level fluctuates with circadian rhythms in humans and increases at night and decreases during the day. Its physiological effects include regulation of circadian rhythms, seasonal reproductive development, neuroendocrine and immune system functions. MT can act as a free radical scavenger to exert a series of protective effects against oxidative damage. It can also affect the regulation of glucocorticoids and the immune system and prevent apoptosis. Exogenous MT supplementation may delay the aging process and prevent age-related diseases.
