In an epidemiological survey of malaria in the coastal villages of the northern coast of Papua New Guinea, the authors found significant differences in splenomegaly between two groups of women of both blood lineage and language, but the average positive rate of Plasmodium had no significant difference. To investigate whether splenomegaly is associated with hypersensitivity to malaria splenomegaly (HMS) in the local group of high splenic rates, the study was conducted in 17 villages 25 km north of the town of Madin.
