海南省公安边防总队担负着保卫国家领土主权安全,维护沿边沿海地区安全稳定的职责。依法在海南大特区1730多公里边、海防线,180多个岛屿,5个国家口岸和14个地方口岸,执行国(边)界武装巡逻、警戒,口岸边防检查,边境及海上治安管理,防范打击潜入潜出,打击偷渡、走私、贩枪、贩毒及其他跨境犯罪,开展边境涉外事务等任务。为维护海南沿海地区社会稳定,促进海南改革开放和经济发展做出了积极的贡献。
