初中第1—3册英语语法重点是研究词法,从第4册起逐步转入句法学习。句子成分是学习句法首先要弄清楚的问题,有必要集中讲一次。怎么讲呢?我曾经按照课本第4册第32—35页中的语法部分进行讲述,先介绍句子成分有七种,然后按主、谓、表、宾、补、定、状的顺序逐一举例说明。这样讲,学生兴趣不大,印象不深。后来我从语言的需要出发,先举例,后归纳,先讲主、谓,再讲定、状,最后讲表、宾、补。把句子成份和句子结构结合起来讲授,逐步引导,逐步归纳。既讲了七种成分,又讲了句子五种基本结构。
