青年期的发现和青年研究是现代社会的产物。在现代中国,青年研究的兴起不仅是社会变迁的结果,还明显受到国外青年研究的影响。五四新文化运动后期,国外青年期研究著作被翻译介绍到中国,“青年期”知识的引入开启了民国学界关于青年心理及行为的研究。同时,知识学人尝试运用科学的方法,针对中国的青年进行调研,形成一系列的学术成果。社会上报刊媒体开辟专栏讨论青年问题,学校设置青年心理学课程,青年期新知识得到传播并应用于教育实践,青年研究逐步走向科学化。
Adolescent discovery and youth studies are the product of modern society. In modern China, the rise of youth research is not only the result of social changes, but also obviously influenced by foreign youth studies. In the late May 4th New Culture Movement, foreign youth adolescent studies were translated and introduced to China. The introduction of “adolescent” knowledge opened the research on youth psychology and behavior in the Republic of China. At the same time, intellectuals try to use scientific methods to conduct research for young people in China and form a series of academic achievements. The media in newspapers and periodicals in the society set up a special column to discuss youth issues. Schools set up youth psychology courses. Youth knowledge was disseminated and applied to educational practice. Youth studies gradually became scientific.
