In this paper, we study the dynamics of soliton pulse transmission in slow dispersion optical fiber and find that the soliton pulse can be compressed in the dispersion-slowing optical fiber. By using 500 μm dispersion-slowing fiber, the 4.4 ps soliton pulse is successfully compressed To 83 0 fs with a pulse compression ratio of 5.3. The experimental study of the soliton pulse compression in the gradedly diffused fiber provides a new approach and method for ultrashort optical pulse compression
