From December 15 to December 18, 2008, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) and the World Chinese Language Institute jointly held the Ninth International Symposium on Teaching Chinese as a Second Language in Beijing, China. At the seminar, more than 400 domestic and foreign experts and teachers focused on the theme of the seminar, “International Education Standards in Chinese Language and Diversified Teaching”, respectively on the status quo of Chinese international education and disciplinary construction, the construction of Confucius Institutes, and the international Chinese education standards.
