清末著名爱国将领左宝贵 ,1894年中日甲午战争中英勇作战 ,壮烈牺牲。左宝贵英雄事迹、传奇故事 ,影响很大 ,人们知之甚多 ,但对于其曾参与洋务运动并取得相当成功 ,数十年中鲜为人知。 1984年 8月 ,文物部门在左宝贵故乡山东省平邑县征集到一部《左宝贵书信集》 ,该《书信集》记载了以往其他史料从未记载的左宝贵参与修铁路、开金矿、办学校等洋务活动 ,为研究左宝贵生平事迹增添了新的内容。
