严良堃,中国合唱指挥界的灵魂人物,一生致力于推动中国的合唱事业的发展,为我国当代合唱事业做出了巨大贡献。严老的贡献是全方位的、深远的:其一是他塑造了中国合唱第一团——中央乐团合唱团的灵魂,并勾勒出当代中国合唱发展的曲折轨迹;其二是通过中国合唱协会推动全国合唱事业的引领;其三是对《黄河大合唱》等等一些优秀作品的修订,使之更完美;其四是通过对后辈合唱指挥的指点,培养了一些优秀的后继人才。
