Objectives: To explore the correlation between medical staff’s cell phone and ICU nosocomial infections. Methods: Fifty medical staff in mixed ICU and 60 mobile phones used by health care workers were selected to isolate, culture and stain the surface pathogens of medical staff and their cell phones respectively. Results: The surface bacterial contamination rate was 93.3% in all 60 cell phones. The types of bacteria isolated from the surface of the hand and handphone of medical staff were similar, and most of the strains were nosocomial infections with varying degrees of drug resistance. Only 12.0% of people have daily habits of cleaning their cellphones. CONCLUSIONS: Mobile phones used by medical staff in ICU of the hospital have a high rate of bacterial contamination, and most of the strains are nosocomial bacteria, suggesting that mobile phones used by medical staff are at a high risk of transmitting pathogens.
