Zhou Yongkang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the Central Political and Legal Committee, met with members of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Political Bureau and government officials in Vientiane on August 19 at local time. Zhou Yongkang first conveyed the cordial greetings from Premier Wen Jiabao. He said: Since China and Laos established their all-round strategic cooperative partnership in 2009, their economic and trade cooperation has shown strong growth momentum. This shows that it is in the fundamental interest of the peoples of both countries to develop a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership featuring long-term stability, good neighborliness and friendship and mutual trust. In order to implement the consensus reached by the top leaders of the two countries, Zhou Yongkang suggests: First, to draw up a long-term plan for the economic cooperation between the two countries.
