This article is the first part of a paper on “High Specific Gravity Tungsten Alloys.” This section outlines the characteristics of tungsten and tungsten alloys. The preparation process and theoretical basis of three high specific gravity tungsten alloys, W-Ni-Cu, W-Ni-Fe and W-Ni-Cr, are discussed. The effects of technological factors and alloying elements on the mechanical properties of the alloys were analyzed in detail. The current research and some new achievements made to further improve the performance of tungsten alloy are also introduced.
