引进美国绿麦试种,通过不同播种量、方式试验,结果表明:美国绿麦播种量以7.50kg/亩表现鲜草产量最高,达2989.8～3383.9kg/亩。9月上中旬以宽条播为好。9月底至10月上旬条播、撒播均合适。并进行了美国绿麦饲喂新西兰白兔试验,表明美国绿麦组日增重比全精料组提高33.7%。每千克增重料比下降39.52%。比黑麦草组提高20.5%,料比下降13.96%。该品种具有富含蛋白质、耐寒、耐瘠薄、耐旱、分蘖力和越冬性强、抗病虫害、饲用价值高、适口性好等优点,是一个早期生长快、分蘖力强、营养价值高、鲜草幼嫩质脆、畜禽鱼十分喜食的优良冬季牧草。
