面对高职英语的现状,除了改革课堂教学模式外,为切实提高高职英语教学质量和培养学生的英语应用能力,还必须花大量的时间开展课外活动,指导学生在课外进行有计划、有组织的英语实践活动。英语课外活动是整个英语教学过程中的有机组成部分,是英语课堂教学的延续,是实现英语教学目标的重要组成部分。因为它有利于激发学生的学习热情,培养学生的自主学习能力和英语应用能力,增强课堂英语教学效果。
