桂林我在湖南宁远县,偶然看报,知道作家孙毓棠在桂林省立一中教书。我和他并没有会过面,只知道他翻译外国文学作品,并写新诗。我写一封信给他,要他告诉我有关桂林的文化情形。他很快回我一封信,讲桂林有什么报纸和刊物,其中就有《救亡日报》,编副刊的是诗人林林。我便决定去桂林。记得到桂林的时候,正是要到黄昏的光景。有些街道全炸倒了,没有行人。我和蕾嘉轮流抱着孩子,走了好久,才找到《救亡日报》。林林热情地接待我们一家三口人,特别腾出一间屋子居住。
Guilin, Hunan Ningyuan County, I happened to read the newspaper, I know the writer Sun Yutang in Guilin Province one teaching. I remember when in Guilin, it is time to dusk. Some streets have been completely destroyed, no pedestrians. Lei Jia and I took turns holding children, walked for a long time, only to find “Salvation Daily.” Lin Lin warmly welcome us a family of three people, a special vacate a room to live.
