新华社内蒙古分社是新华社的派出机构,其前身为新华社绥蒙分社,组建于1945年11月,地点在归绥市的陶卜齐镇。其后随着内蒙古军事政治活动中心的迁移和内蒙古自治区地理区划的变动,先后更名为新华社绥远分社、新华社王爷庙支社,新华社蒙绥分社和1954年3月6日在呼和浩特市正式挂牌的新华社内蒙古分社。目前,新华社内蒙古分社已由最初的两三个人、五六十年代的十几人,发展到现在拥有蒙、汉族记者和各类工作人员100多人。分社为正厅级事业单位,下设采编室、办公室、经理室等部门。分社采编室拥有20名记者,下设政文、农牧、工商、对外和摄影采访室,并在自治区的呼伦贝尔盟、包头市、鄂尔多斯市分别建有记者站,负责采集对内、对外、内参、网络、中外经济信息、摄影图片新闻,还分别向新华社主办的《新华每日电讯》、《经济参考报》、《中国证券报》,《半月谈》、《瞭望》、《经济世界》等
