In the 1950s, the vigorous “Great Leap Forward” movement was one of the most important historical events since the founding of People’s Republic of China and hit a deadly blow to China’s economy, society and even politics. Many Chinese and foreign scholars have tried to find the cause of this nearly crazy Nationalist movement and have given many answers in succession.
