我国许多人辞旧迎新有听钟声的习俗,如北京大钟寺钟声、苏州寒山寺钟声、镇江金山寺钟声等远近驰名。但最能给人以留恋与向往的,则要数晚钟和晨钟。古人诗云的“山寺鸣钟尽已皆,渔梁渡兴早争啌”,就是指晚钟。而“猿鸣钟动不知曙,杲杲寒日生于东”,则是对破晓的晨钟和晓钟的描述。龙年除夕之夜,能聆听晚钟和晨钟,对每一个刚刚步入新世纪的人来说,自然别有意义。我国现存较著名的且被古人以四字格的形式流传下来的“晚钟”和“晨钟”主要有:
