这个作品的灵感来自灯笼,灯笼由于考虑到运输和储存问题并非我们所见到的球形,而是束成桶状,在使用时依靠弹力变形为球状,悬浮中的竹灯笼力图展现这一过程中灯笼的各种形态。Tensegrity是一种特殊的结构形式,它可以通过“拉”、“压”杆件之间的特定组合方式,形成压杆不互相接触的稳定结构。利用Tensegrity原理创造的“灯笼”群组,使得几十个灯笼貌似互不相联,但其实缺一不可。
