The authors observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) that nanoscale fillers exist in clusters in natural rubber latex gloves, and the incorporation of filler did not adversely affect glove performance. This glove blocks ¢ X174 viruses with a diameter of 27 nm, indicating that the insertion of microcrystalline calcium carbonate into the glove does not cause holes in the glove that exceed 2 μm and does not affect the amount of extractable protein and antigenic protein in the glove. Experiments show that the rigidity of the glove, stiffness increases with the filler.
