山西做为祖国大陆能源重化工基地,煤炭资源得天独厚,已探明储量占祖国大陆总储量的三分之一,原煤年产量占国家的四分之一,除供应26个省、市、自治区,还出口到23个国家和地区。煤炭、冶金、化工、机械、电力等工业基础雄厚。改革开放使这块广袤而古老的土地焕发出勃勃生机。10多年来,山西进行了大规模的基础设施建设,境内铁路四通八达,公路纵横交错,空中航线不断发展,邮电通讯迅猛发展,服务设施日臻完善。
