At the 122nd Annual Meeting of the American Medical Association in New York City, Kaplan presented an anti-shock device called “Acute Transfusion Medical Inflatable Pants.” The term “transfusion” refers to the patient’s own blood being chased back to the upper torso, the head and the arms of the torso with the counterpressure of the pants.
