The purpose of this study is to explore additives that can effectively refine grains in the case of reheating at 1100-1300C and hot working to produce engineered components. The effects of titanium addition and addition of vanadium or niobium on the grain growth characteristics of as-cast 0.36C-1Cr steel were investigated. The effect of titanium addition on the grain size during hot working was also investigated. Addition of 0.01% ~ 0.02% titanium can effectively improve the ability of anti-grain coarsening in the temperature range of 1100 ~ 1300 ℃, if the steel contains at least 0.01% aluminum. The control of grain size is associated with a titanium-rich dot of an average size of 8-27 nm. The effect of adding 0.01% -0.02% of titanium on the grain size remains unchanged after thermal processing at 1100-1250 ° C. The addition of titanium and vanadium or niobium is no more beneficial than titanium alone.
