1949年2月25日中午12时许,“天津解放号”列车在欢迎乐队的吹奏声中徐徐驶进北平前门车站。从车厢中首先走出来的是一位身穿丝绸棉袍,左有林伯渠、右有田汉扶掖着的满脸红光、神采奕奕的老者,他就是著名的社会活动家、中国国民党革命委员会主席李济深先生。这位曾先后三次被国民党反动派开除国民党党籍的民主人士,是应中国共产党和毛主席之邀,前来北平筹备并参加新政协会议的。从1949年2月25日李济深抵达北平始,到10月1日新中国宣告成立止,短短7个多月的时间,李济深在北平主要进行了四个方面的活动。
