吴宓研究(包括生平传记)是一项十分严肃的学术工作,虽系一人之行状,但却关涉到现代中国文化的诸多方面。一九九○年,我曾撰写过一份《吴宓先生年表》(已公开发表),一九九五年重作修订时(修订稿尚未发表),我有机会见到吴宓先生一九五二年七月八日亲撰的《自传》。此《自传》毛笔手书,分为三十五小节,约二万余字,从传主家世出身、清华求学写起,一直叙至一九五二年在重庆西南师范学院(今西南师范大学,以下简称西师)任教止。本人本着学术良知及对历史负责的精神,就时下正风行书市的张紫葛著《心香泪酒祭吴宓》(以下简称《心》)一书中不合历史真相的诸多方面,列举三例,以晓读者。
