The exchange and cooperation between Hong Kong and the legal profession in the Mainland will help implement the basic principle of “one country, two systems”. To promote and facilitate the exchange of law and cooperation between the two places and to strengthen understanding of each other’s legal system is one of the major policies adopted by the Department of Justice of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region since its return. The Attorney General spared no efforts in implementing this policy and worked closely with the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, the Division of Law of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Commerce, the Central Government and various local departments of public prosecution, prosecution, law, divisions, law offices, the NPC Law Work Committee, universities, arbitration commissions, The Law Society and the People’s Government maintained close liaison and communication with each other and based on mutual respect for each other’s laws and legal systems, they built a platform and created favorable conditions for the professional cooperation between Hong Kong and the Mainland to enable them to serve the community.
