Composition of Primary and Secondary School Teachers According to statistics published by the Ministry of Education, Japan and the Ministry of Education in 1987, there are 1.33 million people in all types of schools in Japan. There are 1.013 million primary and middle school teachers. From the perspective of teachers’ gender, female teachers account for 56% of the total number of primary school teachers, but there are not many female teachers in secondary school teachers. Female teachers account for 33.9% of junior high school teachers and only high school teachers.
