A study in the United States found that seniors losing interest in hobbies or other activities, showing indifference, may be early signs of cognitive impairment. In this study, experts from the National Institutes of Health conducted a brain MRI scan of 4354 participants, an average age of 76 years. Elderly participants also received a questionnaire designed to test their “indolent symptoms.” These “indifference symptoms” include: no interest in anything, a lack of emotion, giving up activities and hobbies, preferring to stay home, and feeling sluggish all day long.
