对于粘土膨胀与收缩所产生的垂向位移与垂向压力,过去曾给予了很大的重视。而已有的经验表明,粘性土中的桩基及其它地下构筑物既遭受垂直力的破坏,同样也遭受到水平膨胀力的破坏。其中有些情况是,尽管粘土在垂向上可以任意膨胀,却仍然产生了相当大的水平力。为了对实际情况做出恰当的分析,必需对垂向和水平膨胀力二者都加以确定。
The vertical displacement and vertical pressure caused by the expansion and contraction of clay have been given great attention in the past. The existing experience shows that the pile foundations and other underground structures in the cohesive soil not only suffer the destruction of vertical forces, but also suffer the destruction of the horizontal expansion force. In some cases, although the clay can expand arbitrarily in the vertical direction, it still generates a considerable horizontal force. In order to properly analyze the actual situation, both vertical and horizontal expansion forces must be determined.
