Foreword Japan carried out industrialization fairly quickly before World War II. After being destroyed by the war, it experienced another rapid development. This article expounds the role of ports in all stages of Japan’s social and economic development and how to effectively utilize ports to promote regional development. The geographical, economic and historical conditions of each developing country
