历史上有矣剪纸的记载,最早见于汉代司马迁的《史记》;汉晋时,民间妇女就有用金银箔和彩帛剪成方形花鸟图案,贴在鬓角作为装饰的风尚;唐诗中也有对剪纸的吟咏,李商隐《人日记事》:“缕金作胜传荆俗,剪彩为人起晋风”;到宋代,剪纸更加盛行。这时产生了专业艺人和剪纸手工业,宫廷中也出现了在立春日向文武百官“赐金银幡胜”的习俗;到了明清,剪纸已在民间广泛应用。
