The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region plays a very important role in China’s economic and social development. Although its land area is only 2% of the country’s total population, the total population is more than 110 million, accounting for 7.98% of the total population of the country and its GDP is 10.9% of the national total. In China’s “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, Beijing, Tianjin, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Pearl River Delta will be called the most influential urban agglomerations and they will continue to give full play to their role of driving and radiating to enhance the overall competitiveness of urban agglomerations. In recent years, Beijing’s pace of industrial restructuring has accelerated noticeably. The proportion of primary, secondary and tertiary industries in 2005 was 1.4: 30.8: 67.8. By 2012, the ratio was 0.8: 22.8: 76.4. It is estimated that this ratio will be further adjusted to 0.5: 20: 79.5 by 2020, with a per capita GDP of 10,000 U.S. dollars.
