Cities in West Germany are developing high technology centers modeled on the Silicon Valley in the United States to focus their high-tech businesses in one place. By the end of last year, more than 50 centers have decided to move into 10 to 30 enterprises. West Germany’s high-tech development fever and the United States and other differences, the recent recession has not yet. In order to strengthen its international competitiveness, the government plans to allocate DM325 million (equivalent to about 165 million U.S. dollars) to local privately-owned enterprises.
