So far this year, the total amount of imported corn in China reached 2.12 million tons, down 26% over the same period of last year. According to the latest U.S. export inspection report, the total maize arrival from October last year to May this year is estimated at 2.45 million tonnes. In April, the National Grain and Oil Information Center estimated that the volume of imported corn in China will be 3 million tons in 2012/2013, which will still be far lower than the level of 5.23 million tons in the previous year.
