Metal-organic nanotubes (MONTs) are nanostructured tunnel structures constructed by self-assembly of inorganic metal ions and organic ligands. Owing to their unique internal pore size, diverse topologies and Its multiple applications in many fields are receiving more and more attention. It is a hot spot in the field of inorganic chemistry and coordination chemistry. This paper reviews the existing forms and construction strategies of metal-organic nanotubes, including the synthesis of MONTs from calixarene and cyclodextrin ligands, the construction of MONTs and hybrid ligands by conventional pyridine nitrogen ligands or aromatic carboxylic acid ligands, The recent achievements and advances in the field of metal-organic nanotubes at home and abroad are emphatically introduced, and the future research directions in the field of metal-organic nanotubes are also pointed out.
